More Questions

1. Will the rooms already have lighting fixtures or will we have to bring lamps, bulbs, etc.?

2. Will this site still be functional during gov school so we can have at least some way of communticating with other Gov School students? Organizing meet-ups and planning things is going to be pretty hard without cell phones. And on that note.....

3. Will there be phones in each room so we can call other rooms like they have in hotels?

4. For the Persistence of Vision filmmaking course, do we have to bring camers and video equipment?

Any help with these questions (and others that I'll think of later) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Everyone keeps saying how its okay to not have a cell phone because atleast they wil have the internet.. does this mean that we can bring laptops? Or there will be computers there?

There are computers there in computer labs. We can't bring our own.

The rooms have lights, although small desk lamps are good for times you want to be awake and your roomie doesn't.

This site should still work throughout the summer, but it should be pretty easy to find people. You all have to be at certain places at the same time like morning announcements and evening activities. Just plan ahead!

There will not be phones in each room. There will be phones on campus to use to call home.

For the film class, there will be equipment provided.

However, if students have their own cameras, they do come in handy for some of the initial shooting exercises (can create smaller groups) but are certainly not necessary. Personal video cameras that use digital tapes are also useful to transfer the footage into the computer so that the big equipment can be used for shooting scenes. Bottom line: if you have one you can bring, bring it. But do not feel like you need to go out and buy one.

And Sobland is right about the computers.

about computers at cnu....since we cant bring our own, what sites will we be allowed to visit? for instance, i know we will be able to access personal email from some computers, but will we be able to access social networking sites such as facebook and myspace? and will there be laptops that we could take to our rooms? like could we "loan out" laptops or something? or can we only use computers in the labs?

You should be able to get to facebook and myspace, and any other sites you may want to visit. There will not be laptops available for you to take to your rooms.

Are we allowed to have espresso makers in the room?
Just want to make sure before it shows up in my room and has to be taken away

how high off of the floor will the beds be? I was wondering because I was considering packing all of my things in rubbermaid boxes and storing them under the bed, but I don't want to do this if the beds won't be tall enough.

I'm not sure about the expresso maker as it might be considered a fire hazard. It wouldn't be a problem to bring it and if we can't let you use it, we'll let you know. I doubt we would need to confiscate it or anything, just ask that you put it away and trust you not to use it.

There are going to be wardrobe/armoire things in our rooms... so there is space to hang things.... are there drawers in the wardrobe/armoires as well?

no but you have a bureau with drawers in it

do we atleast have closets to hang stuff or only drawers??

The floor plan shows closets, so I think so.

There should be closets as well as drawers to put folded items in.
