New Dance Faculty

One of our faculty members, Jolie Long, has had to withdraw from the program this summer. Fortunately, Madeleine Reber has agreed to join us. She taught with the program last year and initially had some conflicts that were keeping her from being able to return. Those have worked themselves out and we are please to have her back!

Madeleine will be teaching with Mary Ann in the dance program, as well as with David Howell in the interdisciplinary class, "Is this Seat Taken?" The course descriptions for both of those classes remain the same.

She will also offer a seminar that will be along the same lines as Jolie's "Body Modalities", and so if you are signed up for that seminar, I think you will find Madeleine's approach to be to your liking as well. Here is Madeleine's seminar description:

Move, release, rejuvenate, and develop greater body awareness. In this seminar, we will explore several movement practices and various approaches to physical/emotional well-being. Our activities will include exercises and explorations from yoga, dance, Bartenieff Fundamentals, Laban Movement Anaslysis, massage, contact improvisation and Body Mind Centering. We will also look at how the body moves in everyday activities, games and traditional exercise regimes. We will deepen body awareness, build connectivity and integration throughout the body, and develop flexibility and ease of motion. You will need to come equipped with your own yoga mat or small blanket and comfortable workout attire.

Madeleine is taking over everything that Jolie was going to be teaching. That description is only for those in the Body Modalities seminar that Jolie was teaching, as now those students are in the Body Modalities seminar that Madeleine is teaching.
