Religious Services Empty Religious Services

Post by Emac Mon Jun 15, 2009 1:35 pm

Since we're going to have the time set aside for the religious services, I really want to take advantage of that. So I thought I should start a thread where people of the same religious sects could get to know each other and kind of make a game plan if they want to form a group together y'know?

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (more commonly known as Mormon)

And I'd love to find someone else who is, but I'd be happen to join any other Christian group!

I'm Catholic! I asked a question a while ago in the question thread, and they replied that usually things are student run but if our religion requires attending a service, arrangements will be made. I hope this is still true!

I'm also Catholic, so that makes 2 of us so far. I read on one of the other threads that there's student led worship services and stuff, but we can't really have Mass without a priest, so I was wondering how we would go about finding one and arranging it?

I'm Catholic. Count me in for Sunday services. Or Saturday night ones that fulfill the Sunday obligation.

And Kiera--I have an "At Home with the Word," so if we can't find an ordained priest, we can at least read the week's scriptures. Call me a loose Catholic, but I really think that Sunday is a lot about structuring a time to dedicate to God, priest or no. We may even be able to watch Mass on TV if necessary. It may be in Latin. But that's okay : )

I've been trying to set up something with the local parish for Catholic mass--whether we go to mass on Sunday morning or the priest comes to campus to perform mass there, but I haven't had any luck with hammering down exact details. But, I will keep you posted!

Um. Hooray for Lutheranism?
I guess I could just piggyback onto another Christian service, they're all pretty similar.

Another Catholic!
That'd be so great if we could have some kind of mass while we're there. A month is a very long time to be away, even if its not a sin.

Yeah I'm baptist too. Pretty much as long as it is a Christian denomination that bases itself solely on the Bible then I support it.

I like to think that we're all Christian first and Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, etc. second. Our fundamental beliefs are more powerful than our differences, and such differences shouldn't keep us from worshiping together. Mass is nice, but a non-denominational service is okay with me too.

I'm not entirely positive on the differences between Non demoninational and other churches, I think, at least in my case, I'm Non-denominational because my church doesn't affiliate itself with a 'group'- for lack of a better word- such as Catholic, Baptist, etc. The closest denomination to me would probably be Pentacostal. But I'm not against going to vistit a different service. Religion in a big interst of mine (too bad I didn't get it as my group! Sad ) and I find the different facets of Christianity, like how they differ and how they're similar, interesting. I doubt they're going to have a sevice for me, so I might just join a different group. Wow. that was long. Darn. no good emoticon to fit sheepish. oh well. lol.

Well. I am not Catholic. I am nondenominational. But I would love to worship with you guys if that is ok. I definately want to attend a service and maybe you can teach me a few things. I will admit I don't know a ton about Catholicism.

And regarding the "nondenominational can go with anything", not so much. I am nondenominational and to me that means that I have more freedom in how I want to worship and what I believe, instead of what my sect or denomination tells me to believe. It is hard to explain, at least typing it out. It would be a great topic to discuss one Sunday. Smile
