Re: Which College?
I'm not exactly sure what I want to major in, but some potential majors...
Major: Political Science, Latin American Studies, History
Double-Majors: Political Science-International Relations, Political Science-Latin American Studies, Political Science-History
Minors: Spanish, History
So as you can see, I WILL do Political Science. But I want to graduate with more than just a single major. So I'm thinking either double-major or a major and minor. Maybe I can do Double-Major and a Minor. Hmmmmmm.

G-E-O-R-G-E-T-O-W-N. Are you looking there? I just visited. It seems like it'd float your boat.

Haha, Georgetown is an amazing school, and it has extremely good programs for the majors I'm considering. So yes, I am considering Georgetown, it's just I'm skeptical as to my chances of being granted admission since pretty much everyone from my school that has applied the last few years has been rejected, including the valedictorians and salutatorians.

I visited with my grandfather. He really liked that fact that it was Jesuit : )

Re: Which College?
I like the fact that it's a Jesuit university as well. Although their student body is only like 50% Catholic now. It's getting more diverse, but is still predominantly Catholic.

Re: Which College?
Their chapel has Mass at 7 AM. That's crazy. I was appalled. (Actually just in awe of devout Catholics who greet God and the sun at the same time each morning.)
For me, the conservative campus would be a shock to my system coming from a VERY liberal school. My mom jokes that Georgetown would reverse the brainwashing that I've suffered, though I think that Maggie Walker's liberal nature will always have some influence on my political identity.
Is anyone looking for a certain political atmosphere for their college? En general, no me importa.

Re: Which College?
I don't even know where my political views lie, but usually I go against what's popular. And since my school, like yours, is VERY liberal, I'm VERY conservative, or at least I pretend to be. I think I am conservative, so it'd be nice to go to a conservative school, and meet people who think like me, but I'd also like some students who are liberal, so I can here what they think. But if I go to Georgetown, and if I continue to against what's popular, I guess I'd end up being extremely liberal there. LOL.

Re: Which College?
Georgetown is definitely one of my dream schools, however it is extremely competitive to get in and ridiculously expensive. I go to a fairly conservative school, so it wouldn't be much a of change for me, and I like the idea of a Jesuit college. I would def. rather go there than Catholic U.

See, RISD has a 5 year dual degree program with Brown! Which is awesome, but you have to apply early decision to both. I was really hoping to get accepted to this (academics and art together are right up my alley), but I can't bring myself to do something so binding. Still, if you go to Brown you can take classes at RISD.
Oh, and according to wikipedia, RISD has the heaviest freshman workload in the nation. Ugh.
I'm almost done rounding out my "to apply" list! I'll post it when it's done : )
Yeah, I'm visiting RISD in about two weeks so I'll see how I like it.
I was really excited about the dual degree program when i heard about it last year, but i would never get accepted into it. I would never even get into brown, let alone their dual degree program where they only accept like 20 people.
i'm also becoming more interested in carnegia mellon. my friend (who went to govschool for art last year) is interested in both art and other things, and she was deciding between RISD and carnegie mellon, and she chose carnegie mellon.
i might major in art history, or art direction/arts management.

Ahh, getreal05 I used to live there in Chapel Hill and my dad taught at that school! I think UNC is one of my options too. The people there are soo nice and the whole city is pretty awesome too .
Otherwise, UVA maybe, but I desperately want to go Ivy League, but it might be kind of a long shot.

Yeah, I went down to Chapel Hill and absolutely fell in love with place. It's so hard to get into though. Well, not Harvard hard, but hard enough.

Re: Which College?
Ha ha! I discovered, through my own clever research, that the Brown/RISD dual degree program is NOT early decision early. That rounds out my final-ish list to:
University of Virginia, William and Mary, Yale (Single-Choice Early Action), Brown, (Rhode Island School of Design), Princeton, Georgetown...
....and maybe Duke? Does anyone know anything about Duke and its curriculum? Like a core/distribution requirement? I'm looking on their website right now, and am coming up with little.
Or, for that matter, does anyone know of a good, solid, out of state, medium sized, east coast, Ivy-education-but-not-Ivy school that emphasizes the undergraduate holistic experience? Whew, that was a mouthful. I'm looking to add another one of those to my list for balance and sanity.
Williams/Swarthmore/Davidson-y colleges were just too small for me; Stanford and Cornell were just too far away; Columbia was perfect, but NYC for four years is overwhelming to me. I love the city, but it's very large and very busy and not perfect for me.
My list is pretty ambitious, but comprised totally of colleges that I love. If I get accepted to just one, I will have no reason to cry at all.
Happy college searching! (And congrats to all who survived the arrival of June SAT scores, whether you will be re-taking or not. I, for that matter, am done with SAT Subject Tests! Yay!)

Re: Which College?
If you're interested in Williams style schools (that's where my brother went) you might also want to look up Amherst. I can't remember what the size is like in comparison but it's not as much in the middle of nowhere.
