...harry potter??? maybe??
ok so i'm sure everybody is thinking it, but i'm going to be the one who steps up and actually asks
so as everyone probably knows, harry potter and the half-blood prince comes out in theatres in july.
....while we're at govschool....
is there any possible way we could take a "field trip" and see the movie while we're at govschool???

I dont know when it comes out, but parents day would be a good chance to get out to see it. I dont know what all of the "field trips" will be, but I doubt we'll take 400 people to see Harry Potter Then again, I'm not in charge!

Lol, I was definetly thinking about this. It'd be awesome if we could go in shifts or something to see it.

Oh! Count me in! I would love to see it (once, twice, thrice, etc). My family has already abandoned me; they'll be going while I'm away

omgoodness! this has so been killing me! Ever since the first movie came out I've always been first in line for the midnight show!! I even waited 24 hours at a bookstore for the 7th book! Having to wait is going to eat my brains out!
Haha maybe we can all crowd around a computer and watch a pirate version online!

Re: ...harry potter??? maybe??
For the record, we have never taken Governor's School students to see a Harry Potter movie. On family day we do take students who do not have parents or others coming to visit to a local mall to hang out. That mall typically has a movie theatre so many students would go to a movie. And I'm sure many went and saw Harry Potter the last time one opened in July.
Another suggestion for those who don't have family coming on Family Day would be to get your parents to send us permission for you to go with another student's family and then talk them into taking you to see the movie. We can do this after the program starts.

Re: ...harry potter??? maybe??
With a July 15th release (a Wednesday), that perfectly positions the movie a couple days ahead of Family Day. You'd still be able to see it opening "weekend," but the insane opening crowds should have tapered off by then. So, yeah, see it with your folks on Family Day... which is what happened last time an HP film came out during Governor's School.
I'm just glad we don't have to worry about HP plot spoilers anymore...

You and me both! Wow, we had some pretty irate folks (understandable so) when conversations about the newly released book were taking place within earshot of those who were waiting until after Governor's School to read it.Jim_Collison wrote:I'm just glad we don't have to worry about HP plot spoilers anymore...

Re: ...harry potter??? maybe??
I was wondering about this a few weeks back...my family probably won't be coming for the visitation since they would have to drive 6+ hours just to get to Christopher Newport. I guess I can try to see HBP then.
