We should do some fun get-to-know you runs, like Indian runs where instead of just sprinting to the front, you have to do crazy stuff like act like an animal, sing a Disney song, or give your middle name.

I'm in on this. I was worried I'd have to run on my own, but this is sweet. Where are you guys from? I ask because I might know you guys from track meets or whatever else.

Also we should have some ultimate frisbee in our free time. Ultimate is the most intense game ever and it needs to happen.

It's refreshing to see our generation excited about being active, especially those who don't self-identify as athletes. Summer mornings and evenings are the best weather of the year, so it'll be great to get out and just move.

Running is an awesome thing! I feel like I've (healthily) lost ten pounds everytime I do run, and it makes me feel good about myself. I visited New York City over spring break and took a two-mile run through Central Park while I was there. I'm not gonna lie: it was pretty surreal.

I'm in for the early morning runs...I usually do a mile and a half-ish tops, but I get lazy from time to time and have been known to cut that way short. Haha. Does anyone know if we're going to have access to CNU's fitness center (assuming they have one that is)? Nothing beats running outside, but I do like to hit up the treadmill once in awhile to check my speed. I'm been trying to build it up all year when play practice and stupid AP tests don't get in the way. Lol.

As far as how much we'll be running, at the beginning my mileage prolly won't be too heavy, but by the end of the month I might be around.... 45-50 miles a week I think over 6 days so thats about 8 miles per day, although thats just a guess... kearney, what kind of speed work are you guys usually doing at that point in the summer? are you thinking of doing like tempo work or threshold miles are just going on some harder runs on some days and some easier runs on others?

f-a-r-t-l-e-k

Sunday long
Monday off
Tuesday/thursday workout
Wednesday/friday recovery
Saturday workout morning, easy evening

I rarely do workouts in the summer, but if I actually get guilted into them, the schedule might look something like this. Usually I take Sun. off, but I'd be nice to maximize on the extra time.

I doubt I'm going going to go as far as eight miles a day, so I'll be lagging behind in the "Whoa let's slow down a bit" section of the group, haha.

Hey G-land runner 25, i'm the darkest dude in the pic, 2nd from left, and the one with both hand behind his back, and if you enlarge it i'm closing my eyes lol.
b-mcgrail, for myself (and this depends on whether I'm not injured) I'm thinking mileage in the beginning isn't extremely high, but 45-50 by the ends sounds great, I'm still not sure how high i'm going this summer.
And as for hard days, I'll be doing tempo's, thresholds for sure, step downs are fun (when you gradually increase pace until going really hard). Also, I'm definetly throwing in slow easy runs every other day to minimize injury. I'll be following the African Method of training, hard day easy day very happy My long runs won't be too long, but they'll just be at quicker paces. What school do you run for b-mcgrail?
Lol, I love this running forum topic! Once again, great idea Nat!

kearney, I run for Washington-Lee in Arlington, about 5 minutes outside DC. I was at CNU during indoor season for one of those indoor meets, and the campus seemed nice from what I saw of it. I also don't know how high I'll be going at all this summer because I might be injured right now, and I'm not running well right now. 45-50 was a total guess so it could be lower but only by about 5 miles. Where is Lee??
