oh no no, i'm not offended at all! i kind of agree with taylor that all art is pure in its own way?
i'm just being contrary for the sake of it i suppose.
like one could argue that dancing is limited by steps? but it isn't really! and singing- you can sing without words, as long as you've got the notes. =)
and acting- well if you develop a character based on lines, you can improvise based on what that character might say.

and i like the whole filter idea hahaha

My name is Gwen and I look forward to meeting all of you!
I tend to focus on realism and anatomy. Sometimes my work can get pretty abstract, though.

I am fascinated with everything.

But my most recent focus, which honestly will probably be the longest lasting, is my own personal world inside my mind, which I refer to as my own personal Neverland. I draw this place obsessively (ask my teachers) and I constantly invent new areas and add to the mental map.

Here's my artist statement pertaining to a project having to do with the above:

"I want my art to be beautiful. That is something I aim for. Why can't art be beautiful sheerly for the sake of being beautiful? What's wrong with people liking pretty things? Ultimately, we remember our most beautiful moments and experiences above all others. For me, there's nothing wrong with viewing the world with a rosy glow and a bright, saturated atmosphere.
But people have become obsessed with youth and beauty and pretty things. They have given themselves an artificial Neverland to which they can flee when the world, or even they themselves become ugly or warped. People don't want to live in the real or the here or the now, they want to live in the ideal, the serene, the attractive. Rather than show them a mirror image of their own plastic, silicone, and collagen perceptions, I strive to connect them to reality through alternative universes, daydreams of daydreams, and my visions of a Neverland where it's ok to want pretty things and youth, but where it's also okay to have them in a tangible, unique, and human way.
Natural beauty is, in fact, beautiful. And it's everywhere. Even in the deep wrinkles on an old woman's face, or in the slightly crooked nose of a young girl. Maybe it's in the way a myriad of freckles dance across a child's cheeks. So let us make peace with that fact once an for all, and stop warping our dreams of beauty to fit an unnatural, unrealistic, and ultimately unattainable, mold. In my landscapes, no two hills are the same. Every tiny wrinkle in every tree has a story to tell. Nothing is perfectly proportionate or exactly straight, and that's what truly makes it beautiful."

Which pretty much sums it up.
