Fav. Books?
Ok so we're all semi-nerdy Englishy types and I'm always looking for a new good book to read... so what are some of your favorites?

Re: Fav. Books?
Curley, yeah! Though I liked Marianne Curley's OLD MAGIC better than THE NAMED. YA stuff is good for a fast, fun, exciting read.
And anything else by Hinton is good. I liked TEX.

Re: Fav. Books?
Okay, so I'm terrible with my memory so I'll put things down as they come to mind.
Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Captain Underpants series by Dav Pilkey
There's a lot more but I can't think of anything right now!

Re: Fav. Books?
I don’t like fantasy but I did jump on both the “Harry Potter” and the “Twilight” bandwagons (though I’m not one of those obsessed fangirls…no offense to those who are J) I also love “The Green Mile” “Saving Private Ryan” “A Child Called It” the play “Angels in America” “Catcher in the Rye” “Lord of the Flies” and so many others that I can’t think of right now! and I used to love the "Series of Unfortunate Events" too!

Re: Fav. Books?
oh yes.... the Kite runner... and Their Eyes were Watching God. some of the best books... HA. serious of Unfortunate Events... I kept trying to finish it. really I did. but I never could... someday. In that vien, any Fantasy addicts here read Pendragon? a bit repetetive and hateful cliffhangers but loveable characters nonetheless.

Catcher in the Rye...I've never read it but I heard it was just about teen angst which reminds me of "wizard angst"... what is it about?

Re: Fav. Books?
I just read A Prayer for Own Meany and loved it. I too like the Twilight Saga (the movie sucked though). Also the Vampire Academy series is good if you like that theme. 1984 is great, Umm... Anthem (Rand) and I can't think of any others off the top of my head.
I really wish I had more time for pleasure reading. Maybe once I get in to college.

Re: Fav. Books?
Hooray to the person who wrote "Own Meany." A great, great book. Have you read Mark Halperin's "Winter's Tale?"
Hey, androgynous...read "Catcher." It's not at all about teen angst. It's about...well, you tell me. Just be careful -- Once you've read it, you'll never feel the same way about watching someone pick his nose. Intrigued?

TO REVERT BACK TO PICTURE BOOKS, I ALSO LOVE CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS. I EVEN READ THE SEQUEL PICKLES TO PITTSBURGH. MY FAVORITE SCENE WAS THE PANCAKES.
(READ OWEN MEANY AND YOU WILL NEVER READ CAPITAL LETTERS THE SAME AGAIN.)
