In case you didn't notice in the materials sent in June, we have adjusted the start time of the Opening Ceremony to 1:30pm. Check-in times will still take place as scheduled in the morning. The shift is to help accommodate eating lunch off-campus between moving in and the ceremony. There will be no meal service available on campus at all.

We will have a list of suggested restaurants and directions available when you check-in.

This was posted elsewhere on the discussion board and an email was sent, but thought it wouldn't hurt to put it here, too.

Below is the letter from the seminar instructor, Sarah, that was referenced in the second mailing but which did not make its way into all the envelopes. If you aren't in this seminar, pay this no mind. (And why did you click to read this topic anyway? )

The instructors for the interdisciplinary class, "Get a Move On," requested that students enrolled in the class bring some items with them for the course. This list was overlooked when the last mailing went out. Thus, I emailed the information to everybody and am posting it here, too.

New Dance Faculty

One of our faculty members, Jolie Long, has had to withdraw from the program this summer. Fortunately, Madeleine Reber has agreed to join us. She taught with the program last year and initially had some conflicts that were keeping her from being able to return. Those have worked themselves out and we are please to have her back!

Madeleine will be teaching with Mary Ann in the dance program, as well as with David Howell in the interdisciplinary class, "Is this Seat Taken?" The ...

(Or should that be "Recognized Teacher Letters Sent"? or "Teachers' Letters"? Yes, that's probably better.... Then again, the Recognized Teacher is really serving as an adjective to differentiate these letters from any other letters that are being sent, and the fact that there are multiple teachers is really moot; each letter recognizes one teacher, so it is a teacher letter.... Ok, this is why I was a math major and not an English major.)

Course assignments are done and I'm working hard to get them printed out and mailed today. Look for them in the mail Monday.

I tried to give everybody at least one of their first choices for something, IF the forms were turned in on time. I think I succeeded, but no promises. I also tried to stay away from 4th choices for interdisciplinary classes but had to go there for a couple of people, usually because of instructor conflicts and/or really popular classes.

First, I should mention what is in the second mailing. Besides general reminders and random tidbits, it will include your room assignment, roommate information, and your course assignments.

While June 1 is the target date for that mailing to go out, it is most likely going to be sent June 5. The forms deadline was later than usual, and other things have delayed the full processing of the forms returned to us, and thus delayed the production of the second mailing.

The listing of available interdisciplinary courses for visual art students you were sent it incorrect. We do not assign students to an interdisciplinary course taught by their core class teachers. Thus, I-04 should not have been included on your course selection sheet just as I-01 and I-06 were not listed. The electronic submission process (available here) is correct and does not include I-04.

Our apologies for the error. I'll post a corrected description list and selection sheet for ...

Welcome!

If you have found this board, chances are you are going to be a part of the Governor's School program this summer. This board is designed to be a place where students can post questions, faculty can talk about their courses, RAs can talk about life on campus, and everybody can introduce themselves and get to know one another.

This Announcement Forum is where I will post announcements (hence the name) from time to time that may be of interest to folks.
